Holi Festival of Colors - the Most Colorful Holiday
in India

Holi is one of the most famous and colorful festivals in India, which symbolizes the arrival of spring, the triumph of good over evil and the unity of people. On this day, the streets of Indian cities turn into a bright palette of colors, when people of all ages shower each other with colored powders, sing, dance and enjoy the atmosphere of joy.

When and where does Holi take place?

The festival is celebrated on the first full moon of March, but the exact date changes every year depending on the lunar calendar.

The best places to celebrate: Vrindavan and Mathura are the spiritual centers of Holi, where according to legend, Krishna was born. Here, the holiday lasts a whole week, and the rituals are filled with deep meaning. Delhi and Jaipur are the cities where the most colorful mass festivities with music, dancing and treats take place. Uttar Pradesh (Barsana) is the place where the unique Lattmar Holi is celebrated, during which women "playfully" beat men with sticks, and they try to defend themselves. Goa - here Holi turns into a combination of a traditional holiday and a beach festival.

How is the festival held?

Holi celebrations begin the day before the festival with the lighting of a huge bonfire – Holika Dahan. This ritual symbolizes the victory of good over evil, and people gather to pray and cleanse themselves of negativity.

On the day of Holi itself: People take to the streets with bags of colored powders (gulab), which they sprinkle on each other. There are street performances, concerts, mass dances and games. Everyone shares festive sweets, including guniya (fried doughnuts) and bhang (a traditional milk treat with herbs). Regardless of age, gender and social status, everyone has fun equally – Holi erases the boundaries between people.

Why is Holi worth seeing?

It is a unique cultural experience that immerses you in the traditions of India.

A fantastic atmosphere of friendliness, joy and unity.

A chance to truly feel the spirit of India - its color, energy and passion for life.
